Still here

I bet you all thought I was over it, another blogger come and gone.  I have to be honest, trying to come up with something weekly to keep everyone engaged is pretty hard and put a lot of pressure on me.  Life can definitely get in the way of other fun activities!  I am sure you all know how it is!!  The other things stopping me was the end of the outdoor season and a new kitten!  Nature doesn’t stop, I know, winter is just as nature filled as all the other seasons, but I really do also enjoy the lack of outdoor responsibilities in the midwest winter.   And I did also enjoy watching my new kitten grow and learn – maybe more growing than learning….lol.

Enough about my excuses – spring is a coming!!  April is starting out like a lion so far this year with many cold days, rain, snow, and wind.  That doesn’t stop the birds from arriving back on site!  We have the wood ducks back, I saw a male Towhee, and the Eastern Phoebes this last week.  Soon it will be the Hummingbirds and Orioles along with the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks.

Over the winter I did go out for a few hikes and photo-shoots.  Trying to stay warm up in a tree stand to catch some known Bald Eagles in the area was a bit much even with a warmer winter day.  Next year, I think I will set up a blind for a couple of days so they will be used to it standing there before I attempt it again.

On one of my hikes of the property I was able to find some glass bottles that were very old, and a small handheld RCA/Victor 1950’s transistor radio.  Nature always brings something to the surface!  On every hike I almost always see something new or different and that, to me, is amazing – I am always in awe of what nature has to offer us, especially if we are curious enough to find out more on each subject.

This spring coming up I am already thinking to what things I may want to blog about.  I am considering working with bumble bees, and their decline.  I want to go on a few local field trips and share what I find.  You may be interested in knowing some more about ponds, plants, and morel hunting this spring.  I will try to keep up, there is a lot to cover in the spring!  Please look for new posts, maybe not every week though.

Take a look at some of pics from the last few months.
